Our Arts Program incorporates the Visual Arts (colour, pattern, drawing, painting, textiles etc) and the Performing Arts (music, drama, etc). The Arts is one of our Specialist programs and our children participate in weekly sessions. We have a dedicated Arts classroom and our students are involved in developing a range of skills and in expressing themselves creatively.

Visual Arts

Displaying the students’ work is important for us, and the display cabinet in the school’s Administration Office is dedicated to this purpose. Photographs of the students’ work is included in their Learning Portfolios and completed works are on show in the classrooms, the Art Room and the Office.

Students from Exford regularly participate in the annual Djerriwarrh Festival (Melton’s festival in November of each year) and this is supported by the Arts program, staff and parents.

During 2009, our students participated in creating our wonderful Mosaic wall; (visible from Exford Road) – the children worked in multi-age groups and helped each other to create their panel. The painted mural on the other side of the Mosaics wall was achieved by local artist Dianne Hutchison and some of our students who worked with her to create it.

Music

We offer instrumental music and singing lessons for our students.  We have a partnership with Performing Arts Headquarters (Bacchus Marsh) to offer music lesssons and to assist with instrument hire and purchase.

Music teachers from PAHQ come to Exford and they are able to offer individual or group lessons.   We offer guitar, keyboard, drums, violin and singing lessons.  There is also a lunch time Choir for our Prep -2 children and our Year 3-6 children.
